1 Principe of the functioning
The linear movement of a measuring cable is converted into a rotary motion by means of a winding / unwinding spool whose dimensions are extremely precise. A spring is strained during unwinding of the cable and gives the necessary torque to the restoring force thereof and to its winding on the drum. A particular system ensures the perfect winding in contiguous turns which gives all the accuracy of the sensor.
The winding and unwinding of the cable are thus transformed into an electrical signal. Depending on the signal type of the sensors, different elements are used to create the electrical signal (hybrid potentiometer, encoder). Inside conditioning electronic cards make it possible to transform the measurement of displacement into an electrical signal (tension, current, pulses…).

2 Signal
The resistance range is used from 3 to 94% of the operating range of the potentiometer. 0 to 100% is technically impossible. The exact signal is given on the sensor label.Voltage or current, the measuring range corresponds to a standard electrical signal (0/10V, 0/5V, 4/20mA).
Pulse output, the sensor output signal is given on the sensor label (pulses / mm).
